Biography

Kevin Ryan is well known throughout Prince Edward Island as a songwriter whose music strikes an immediate rapport with listeners with its down-to-earth warmth, honesty and insight. His thought provoking lyrics and tasteful hooks have touched a wide range of audiences across Canada over the years. Kevin is equally well known as a high-energy, up-tempo entertainer who combines an intense emotional delivery with a keen, good natured sense of humour in his interactive live shows. 

Kevin has recorded two original albums to date - Duality (2000), and The Way (1994). He is currently in pre-production for a third. Duality was co-produced by Kevin and Brad Davidge, ECMA Pop Artist of the Year Nominee and guitar player for multi Juno winner and Grammy nominated Natalie MacMaster. The Way was produced by Gilles Godard in Nashville. Kevin also produced and recorded The Cheveries, nominated for a PEI Music Award for Best Folk Recording at his new studio Summer Savory Sound, located on his farm in South Pinette.

     "There's good and there's bad. Actually there's not one without the other. That's the nature of perspective. And there's passion, which creates emotion. The type of emotion depends on everything that leads up to any given moment. That's often where a song comes in. The purpose of the blues is not to depress, but to express. It's the same idea with songs which speak of unashamed joy or love. It's all good. I see a spectrum of emotions that are meant to be enjoyed or suffered, but at least explored."
