Biography

A Maritime Girl.  I grew up in Nova Scotia but have called Prince Edward Island home since 1998. Deciding in 2002 to stay at home with my two small children until they both entered school, I took the opportunity to leave my previous field of work and pursue a dream of starting my own business. I had been teaching myself to quilt for a number of years, and expressing myself creatively for as long as I could remember, but I needed new inspiration to make the jump into business. With limited educational opportunities on the Island in the fields of Art and Craft I decided to find something I was able to learn on my own and make at home. Over the course of a couple years I explored a few different craft mediums but became particularly interested in wire jewellery. While I learned to manipulate the wire I began to look for items such as glass beads to add some dimension to each piece. After one of my trips home to visit my parents I recalled all the beach glass they had collected over the years. There it sat in containers too numerous to count from the house to the barn. The beach glass and the wire were a perfect fit. The beach glass gives my jewellery a wonderful sense of fun and a quality that is uniquely Maritime. I had found new inspiration, and a place to start.So now while my days are filled with all the 'stuff of family life', my evenings are spent developing a craft business.
