An artist of Queens County. BiographyKarl MacKeeman, ANSCAD, was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and has worked in many galleries and teaching institutions worldwide, including Cuba, Germany and Papua New Guinea. His Island roots brought him home some years ago and today he is one of the most respected and sought after working artists and art teachers on the Island. He is widely admired in Canada and beyond, not only as a painter but as a brilliant technician and an inspired and inspiring teacher. His most recent solo show was in 2005 in Quebec and featured the fishes and mermaids for which he has become acclaimed. He is also well-known for his cityscapes, landscapes, printmaking and studies. His most recent Island exhibition was with fellow painter Suzanne O'Callaghan and his next solo show is at the Arts Guild in December 2006.
