Biography

I've been primarily a landscape painter for over twenty years now, although I also enjoy tackling still-life and figurative subjects. I work in acrylic and oil. My main concern is to paint what I see around me as simply and evocatively as possible. Recently I've been trying to focus more on the process of painting. When I was in China a couple of years ago, I came to appreciate how beautiful  and effective the gestural brush stroke is in Chinese ink painting. I think a good painting should have an element of bravery about it.
